アメリカのプロデューサー・チーム、カセネッツ＝カッツが手掛けたバブルガム・ミュージックの人気バンドの一つ、オハイオ・エクスプレスの9枚目のシングル。A面のみストロベリースタジオ録音。作曲はグレアム・グールドマンで、そのままボーカルを担当している。全米チャート86位。
他のバブルガム・バンド同様、オハイオ・エクスプレスもスタジオ・ミュージシャンによる架空バンド。ジョイ・レヴァインが中心となったセッションで録音された「ヤミー・ヤミー・ヤミー」が全米チャート4位、全英5位とヒットした。ジョイ・レヴァインは同じくバブルガム・バンドの1910フルーツガム・カンパニーでもリード・ヴォーカルを担当している。
グレアムが契約してきたカセネッツ＝カッツとの前金で購入された4トラック・レコーダーのテスト用に録音された曲こそが「ネアンデルタール・マン」である。
