60年代から活躍を続ける英国のポップ・シンガー、トム・ジョーンズが、ジェフ・リン、テディ・ライリ、リチャード・ペリーら名プロデューサーを起用したアルバム「快楽天国」からのシングルカット。トレヴァー・ホーンがプロデュースし、全英チャート11位とヒット、トム・ジョーンズの90年代の代表曲となった。
プロモーション・ビデオの監督はロル・クレーム。レコーディングにもギター、キーボードで参加している。ビデオに出てくる青年は彼の息子のレイロ・クレームが演じている。
この作品でホーンと本格的にがっぷり組んだロルは、映像ビジネスから手を引き、音楽活動に復帰した。
「恋はメキメキ」という邦題は、「タモリ倶楽部」でのみうらじゅん氏による命名。日本盤シングルのジャケット画もみうら氏が手がけている。
