ケヴィン発案の環境問題チャリティアルバム。50分強もある1曲を制作するために世界26ヶ所のスタジオで292名以上のミュージシャンが参加した。ベーストラックをスティングとケヴィンが演奏しそれに世界中のミュージシャンたちが音と歌を重ねていくという気の遠くなる様な方法で制作されている。このビデオ版も同様に様々な場所で撮影された映像を繋ぎ合わせている。参加ミュージシャンは、スティング、ルー・リードら過去にプロモを監督したアーティストやピーター・ガブリエルのリアル・ワールド関係者が多い。
1990年5月20日～26日に放送されたスペシャル・プログラム「ワン・ワールド・シンフォニー」の一環としてイギリスBBCを始め、NHKほか各国のTVで放送された。メイキング番組もケヴィンが監督している。
