バリー・レヴィンソン監督＆ロビン・ウィリアムズ主演作。玩具の兵器化を進める軍人上がりの新社長の野望を阻止しようとする、前社長の息子の活躍を描いたファンタジーコメディ映画『トイズ』のサントラ。邦題は「トイズ オリジナル・サウンドトラック」。ハンス・ジマーとトレヴァー・ホーンが音楽を担当。ホーンにとっては本格的に音楽監督を担当した初めての作品。またトーリ・エイモス、エンヤ、パット・メセニー、トーマス・ドルビー、ブルース・ウーリー、ピーター・ガブリエル、シール、グレイス・ジョーンズ、ロル・クレームなど、二人の旧友を含め様々なアーティストが参加した豪華作となっている。（どの曲に誰が参加したかの細かい記載は無し）
ハンス・ジマーは映画音楽家になる以前、ホーンやウーリー、ジェフリー・ダウンズの"オリジナル"・バグルスと共に活動していて、ホーンとダウンズがバグルス・デビュー直前にリリースしたクロミウムのアルバム"Star To Star"にも参加している。
アメリカ盤では、11曲目のフランキー・ゴーズ・トゥ・ハリウッドの「プレジャー・ドーム」の新リミックスで異なるエディットが収録されたCDも出回っているそうだ。
